Strikers Alley Reopened

Smethport Web — by Les Jordan, Jr.

Striker’s Alley has reopened and offers open bowling 6 days of the week. Betty Himes, an avid league bowler in the area, is managing the lanes. The bowling alley will offer special bowling times from Dec.26-31 for school students during the Christmas vacation.

The lanes will again be offering open bowls for special occasions such as birthday parties, group parties, and bridal showers.

One of the important improvements the lane has adopted is for a mechanic to be at the automatic pin setters at all times in order to more quickly provide uninterrupted bowling for patrons. Radio will be installed to allow the maintenance staff to consult with the main desk, a process that also expedites smooth bowling.

Staff will also be trained to maintain the automatic setters. The maintenance duties will be handled by Bill Eck, who has much experience as a bowler in the Kane area, and Gerald (Butch) Kleiderlein.

Games cost $2.00 per game and the lanes are open Tuesday to Thursday from 5-9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 5-10 pm, and on Sundays from 1-5 pm.
