Friday evening Smethport celebrated Homecoming Day with a parade down Main Street. Retired biology teacher Bill Stephens, led the parade as Grand Marshal, followed by student Grand Marshal Escorts Abbey Woodard and Will Perez. They were followed by High School principal Robert Miller and Smethport Area School District superintendent Charles Leasure.

The parade featured the Smethport High School Marching Band, some very creative floats, and truckloads of cheerleaders.

Visiting Shriners entertained the crowd with complex figure-8 maneuvers in their fast-paced mini cars.

On home turf that evening, the Smethport Hubbers defeated the Otto-Eldred football team by a score of 40 to 34. The Hubbers’ Ryan Stratton had a spectacular day on the field – offensively and defensively – with 19 carries, 3 touchdowns, 2 extra points, and 20 tackles.

During half-time, Julia Greenman was introduced as the Homecoming Queen and David Kimble as the King.

The homecoming dance was held the following night at the school gymnasium with DJ Dick Linane providing the music.
