Smethport Borough is offering two new utility payment options. In addition to sending payment by check or via bank account bill pay, residents may visit the Borough office to pay by credit card, or go online to pay securely from any location with an Internet connection.

Pay Utility Bills Online With Credit Card

Credit card payments will be processed immediately by Value Payment Systems, a service the Borough uses to make it easier and more convenient for residents to pay for their utilities.

After VPS clears the payment, the Borough posts the amount to each person’s account. The whole transaction from start to finish may take a few days, so it is best to make payments ahead of the due date to avoid the late fee charged by the Borough.

VPS charges a convenience fee of 2.50% (credit cards) or 1.50% (debit cards) of the payment amount ($2.95 minimum fee) for using this service. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express credit and debit cards are accepted.

After payment details are entered into the online form on the secure VPS website, residents will have a chance to review the accuracy of the information they entered before submitting the payment. VPS will send a receipt via email which will contain a payment confirmation number.
