Samantha Sessamen began her duties as extension educator for the McKean County office of the Penn State Extension Service in Smethport on August 1st.

A native of Tyrone in Blair County, she graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with bachelor’s degree in agricultural science in May.

Currently, she is becoming familiar with the county’s 4-H program and assisting with that youth organization’s projects that will be exhibited in the 4-H Building next week at the McKean County Fair.

Among her other job responsibilities are youth development, program planning, and overseeing the entire 4-H program.

When asked about her goals for this job, she replied, “I want to increase membership and expand the focus of programs and do what’s best for the youth.”

A 4-H member for eight years in Blair County, she started a rabbit and cavy club and was a 4-H leader for four years. She also showed horses and lambs as member of a 4-H horse and sheep club.

While a student at PSU, she was a member of the sporting team for the collegiate equestrian show and competed in New Jersey.

She also was a member of the Teach Ag Society at the University Park campus.
