Vietnam Honor Ride of Pride on Saturday May 31

The Sons of the American Legion will sponsor the second annual Vietnam Honor Ride of Pride on Saturday May 31, 2008.

The event is open to all individuals wanting to ride their motorcycle in honor of our Vietnam Veterans.

Registration for the event is at the Bucktail Post American Legion in Smethport from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Coffee and donuts will be served, compliments of the Smethport Legion Auxiliary. The ride begins at 11:00 AM.

Bikes will assemble at Costa’s Hardware parking lot on W. Water Street. A blessing of all the assembled bikes will precede the take-off of all bikes at 11:00 AM.

The first stop on the route will be Ridgway followed by stops at Marienville and Mt. Jewett before arriving at Hamlin Lake Park in Smethport at 3:00 PM.

Upon arrival at Smethport, former Marine and Vietnam veteran, George Tufts, will lead a ceremony at Hamlin Lake Park to honor all Vietnam Veterans. Following the ceremony over 400 balloons will be released.

A pig-roast will follow the ceremony which will be hosted by the Smethport Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Cost of the Honor Ride and Pig Roast is $10 for non-veterans. Vietnam veterans can participate free of charge.
