Smethport man to present program on first moon walk

Exactly 40 years ago today, astronaut Neil Armstrong of the three-man Apollo 11 crew entered the history books as the first man to set foot on the moon.

To mark the anniversary of this mission, which met President John Kennedy’s goal of sending astronauts to the moon and bringing them home safely before the end of the decade of the 1960s, Bart Barton of Smethport will present a program of that first moon walk at 7 p.m. today at the Old Jail Museum in Smethport.  Read more »
