Smethport American Legion Bucktail Post 138 will present a special edition of the popular Long Branch Saloon from June 20-24 this year. The special edition of the Saloon is to celebrate the saloon’s 10th Anniversary. The attraction began as part of the events for Smethport’s Sesquicentennial in 2003 and was so popular that it has been part of Smethport’s special summer activities ever since.
Live music will be held nightly during the special celebration. A list of the live music groups follows:
Wednesday June 20 – John Burns at 7 PM
Thursday June 21 – Mo Jo Hand Blues Band at 8 PM
Friday June 22 – 2 Guys Drinking Beer at 8 PM
Saturday June 23 – Freddy & the Jets at 8 PM
Sunday June 24 – Blue Mule Band at 2 PM
Country Western recordings everyday
Special “Chuck Wagon Grub” will be offered each day for lunch and dinner. Sloppy Joes and hot dogs will be served daily. Specials though the week include:
Wednesday – BBQ ham sandwiches
Thursday – Beef on Wick
Friday – Texas hots and tacos
Saturday – Meatloaf Dinner
Sunday – Italian sausage
There are special events and promotions lined up for the 10th year saloon celebration. Souvenirs to commemorate the event include 10th Anniversary Long Branch T-shirts and mugs. Wednesday afternoon is Family Day with prizes for the Best Western Costume for children 12 and under. There will be food, fun, games and raffles daily.
Other special events include a Miss Kitty and Matt Dillon “Look Alike” Contest, a Dead Eye Contest, a Hobby Horse Race, and photo ops at the Long Branch Saloon Jail.
There will be a full bar each day along with IBC root beer and soft drinks, and “the casual, friendly place offers complimentary popcorn and peanuts in the shell set in an “old-time” western ambiance and features a truly one-of-kind rustic bar built and donated by American Legion members.
The Long Branch Saloon is a unique eating and watering hole where you can put your spurs up while visiting with old friends and making new acquaintances.
The saloon is the special project of Legion members Reid and Cindy Matteson, along with Sonya Covert.
