Cha-Ching! Town-Wide Yard Sales a Huge Success

The town-wide yard sales did a brisk business last weekend. A few yards were cleaned out of all items put out for sale. Even small yard sales managed to ring up hundreds of dollars in sales.

A casual browse through the goods revealed some incredible bargains, including a fully functional color TV set for only $1 (that’s right, one dollar), which one teenager was happy to scoop up. There was also a window air conditioner for $5, verified as fully operational before being carted away. An oversized couch, clean and in good condition, went for $25.

One Smethport resident used a hand counter to track bargain hunters, recording nearly 200 visitors to his display of wares off Main Street. A woman stopped by and asked him where he was keeping all the cool stuff, like dishes and frilly things. He replied: “This is a man’s sale.” So she picked out a cute table saw for $35.
