Olean Times Herald – The 2024 Winter Travel League (WTL) season came to an end Feb. 25 at the Richburg Rod & Gun Club as 34 qualified league shooters posted scores in the season-ending, 50-bird trophy shoot.

Junior shooter Brayden Cosper from Smethport, Pa., is the league’s regular season champion with his 23.75 average. Mason Findlay of Fillmore was the runner-up with a 22.67 average, while Lancaster’s Jake Harris finished third at 22.42.

Duke Center, Pa.’s Sebastian Zona was the high junior shooter with a 22.92 average. Becki Reitz of West Clarksville was the high lady shooter for the season with a 21.42 average.

On the day of the final shoot, it was very sunny and fairly warm with temperatures in the low 40s, but the wind was relatively strong and a bit chilly. The Richburg crew did an excellent job with the shoot as well as the awards dinner. With more than 60 guests in attendance, everyone there as enjoyed a good meal.

Kody Beil from Portville prevailed in the A Class 50-bird shoot-off against Findlay. Each of them broke 46×50, along with three other A class shooters.

Randy Ours from Eldred, Pa., won the B Class trophy with his 44×50. Rob Cosper from Smethport, Pa., won C Class with 42×50. Ours also won the annual Green Bird award while Bill Frenchette from Arkport won the Gatekeeper’s Award.

The league had 46 shooters this year. As the 34th year of the traveling winter trapshooting season closes, the league thanks all of the shooters who participated this year, as well as the three clubs that hosted weekly winter trap shoots this winter.
