Chief Patrick Warnick has retired from Smethport Borough Police Department, and borough council appointed Officer Kevin Seipp as chief.
Warnick has been in law enforcement for well over 25 years and has been with Smethport since 2006. In 2013 he was appointed chief.
Warnick is a graduate of Port Allegany High school, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a graduate of the IUP police academy. He plans a second career with the McKean County Sheriff’s Office.
At the same meeting, with the support of Mayor Wayne V. Foltz, borough council appointed Officer Kevin Seipp to the position of chief. Seipp has been with the department since 2015. He is a graduate of Smethport High School, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a graduate of HACC Police academy, and holds instructor certifications in first aid/CPR, use of force/ defensive tactics and ALICE (alert, lockdown, inform, counter, evacuate).
