Winners Walk on Sunshine Following Arts on Island Car Show

The island on Hamlin Lake in Smethport can reportedly handle 200 vehicles for the Arts on the Island car show — and organizers never know until lunchtime the day of the event how many will register.

On Saturday, the weather was so wonderful, 138 entries took to the island.

Entrants are eligible to compete for an award in several categories. Trophies were awarded to first-place winners in several categories:

About Smethport

Smethport is a borough of McKean County, Pennsylvania, and the county seat. It is also Pennsylvania’s first Route 6 Heritage Community. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,515.

Dutch land surveyors explored Smethport in 1807 and selected it as northwest Pennsylvania’s most perfect town site. The community was named after Raymond and Theodore de Smeth, Dutch bankers and business agents based in Amsterdam, who established their firm in 1736.
