Smethport Students Shape Cutting-Edge Game in Beta Test

Bradford Era – by Seneca Highlands CTC

A group of enterprising students from the Networking and Engineering programs at the Seneca Highlands CTC beta tested an in-development game from Gwoop. The experience kicked off with excitement and anticipation as students logged in to explore the game’s early version, collecting data and feedback crucial to its future success.

Victor Earle, a junior at Smethport, pauses during his beta test of a fishing-based game at Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center. Aiden Collins, a sophomore at Smethport, looks on from his workstation.

“This is the type of real-world experience we always look for,” said teacher Brent Bryant. “Students aren’t just learning from class materials; they’re actively shaping an innovative product that could be used by thousands of players.”

During the test, students navigated various levels, analyzing everything from the stability of the game’s servers to the fluidity of its controls.

Feedback from the students will directly inform software patches, gameplay tweaks and potential additions to the final version.

With this feedback, both Gwoop and the students gain practical technology skill-building and a chance to leave a lasting mark on a product that may soon launch. Read More
