Smethport Airs New Radio Format
February 23, 2009
Smethport’s 106.3-FM radio station WXMT has changed its format and is fast becoming a favorite channel for classic rock music from the 70s and 80s. It is a great station for “rock without the hard edge,” as the station slogan proclaims.
The station now broadcasts in digital High Definition (HD) Radio for crystal-clear reception. With this technology, FM stations offer CD-quality sound, while AM stations offer FM-quality sound.
WXMT also limits the number of commercials and there’s never any talk over the beginning of your favorite songs.
New owner of the station, Jeff Andrulonis, has over 20 years of experience in the broadcasting business. He also operates several other radio stations over the Colonial Radio Network. These stations include WLMI out of Kane, PA.
Jeff is leading activities for the re-establishment of Smethport’s Hamlin Lake Festival, which will include an auto show and car parade down Main Street. Volunteers are welcomed.

Smethport is adjacent to 2 million acres of public land that is home to the largest elk herd in the eastern U.S., pockets of white-tailed deer, 15,000 black bear, as well as an abundance of turkeys, pheasants, grouse, waterfowl and other small game. Come and enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ATVing, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and more.
