Hospital to Establish Bowman Scholarship
January 30, 2009
Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, based in Coudersport, has established the Douglas F. Bowman, M.D. Memorial Scholarship Fund. Dr. Bowman served the hospital and the community in numerous roles including CCMH medical director and board member.
The scholarship will be awarded to a Smethport area student pursuing a health care related career with preference given to those seeking a nursing or medical degree. Recipients will also be chosen based on their interest in serving the community.
The scholarship fund has already received two donations. Potter County Medical Society has contributed $1,000 and CCMH medical staff has given $1,000.
To contribute to the fund, contact the fund development office at CCMH, 814/274-5204, or donate securely online at CCMH’s website. The donation form allows contributors to select “Douglas F. Bowman MD Memorial Scholarship Fund” from a drop-down list.
Donations to the scholarship fund are tax deductible. More details about the scholarship will be announced as they become available.
In addition to seeing patients at his Smethport office, Dr. Bowman cared for residents at Sena-Kean Manor and Lakeview Senior Care and Living Center and students at Smethport schools, and held positions within the McKean County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and McKean County Emergency Service Council.
