Digels Honored Saturday at Hamlin Memorial Library Open House

Longtime Hamlin Memorial Library benefactors Shirley and Bob Digel were honored Saturday at the open house for the library’s new addition.
The couple were surprised when they saw a mural handpainted by Smethport artist Julie Mader — a tribute to the Digels — that depicts themes from their lives as well as topics that are popular with the library’s patrons.
Speaking to the people assembled in the library’s new wing, library board president Mary Palmer briefly summarized the Digels’ volunteerism on behalf of the library. Read more »
