Registry Ceremonies
On occasion, the Borough recognizes historic resources with a ceremony that includes the presentation of a Smethport Historic Registry plaque and framed description of the property and its historical significance to the community. These ceremonies and historical markers encourage the preservation and protection of historic, architectural, cultural and aesthetic resources, which strengthen the Borough’s economic base by stimulating cultural tourism and fostering civic pride in the beauty and accomplishments of the Borough’s past.
