Potato Creek Trail Association

Meeting Minutes for January 21, 2010

13 people attended this meeting.

Just another reminder that from now on our meetings will be on the 3rd Thursday of every month.

In our next meeting we will talk about some changes to our bylaws. Claudia will bring copies for everyone.

Heather McKean from the conservation district joined our meeting.

We received a grant from the fish & boat commission, but we don’t know the amount yet. This money will be used for stabilizing the banks of our water ways around the access points by the Crosby ball field (there is free parking at the fire hall), by the Larabe Y, the Coryville bridge and Sandy Wolfinger’s access by RT. 446 (across from the uphill trail).

Kurt Weaver gave us an overview of the water trail from Betula to Portville.

We will have to wait for our grant money (probably to be received in summer) before we can take any action on the water ways. Generally roadways can come no closer than 50 feet to the water.

Ross Porter will talk with our commissioner Joe Demott about using material from the Galico Bridge, which is being repaired, to use at the county bridge which is in disrepair as well.

Tim Pierson organized a program about Indian Trail Trees presented by Lee Ryan. Will will have a 30 min. meeting followed by the program. Please mark your calendars for this event on 15 April 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Court of Angels. Join us for some coffee and cookies.

A cross country trail opened from Kinzua Bridge to Smethport. Check it out at www.smethportpa.org

To help with printing costs we could offer advertisement spots on our trail maps.

In appreciation of all that Wolfingers offer us we want to dedicate a trail head to them as well as a life time membership.

If you want to check out Kinzua Trail Assoc. they meet every 3rd Wednesday at the Westline Inn.

Mark your calendars for our next meeting on 18 Feb. at 6:30pm at the Senior Center.
